Microbiology Analyst
- The Microbiology Analyst performs microbiological analyses according to the established schedule, in compliance with specifications, methods, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at Groupe PARIMA Inc. The role includes preparing culture media, interpreting results, and ensuring proper documentation. The analyst also contributes to training activities, procedure writing, investigations, and the overall proper functioning of the laboratory.
- The incumbent must follow all health and safety rules and report any health and safety risks to their supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform microbiological analyses of raw materials, packaging components, finished and semi-finished products, stability samples, and development (PDS) projects
- Perform environmental monitoring of the manufacturing facility
- Conduct purified water analysis according to approved methods
- Perform bacterial identification
- Prepare culture media and carry out the appropriate controls
- Ensure adherence to timelines for microbiology laboratory activities
- Understand and interpret microbiological analysis results
- Assist and participate in the training of junior analysts
- Document and maintain raw data for all analytical results
- Ensure the integrity and traceability of all produced and reported information
- Write procedures related to the microbiology laboratory
- Participate in problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of microbiology laboratory instruments
- Actively participate in investigations related to microbiology activities
- Maintain inventory of materials required for the microbiology laboratory
- Enter results into the LIMS system
- Follow health and safety rules and report health and safety risks to supervisors
- Perform any other tasks necessary for the proper functioning of the laboratory
Competencies and experience required:
- College Diploma (DEC) in Science (Microbiology, Biology, or Biochemistry) completed or equivalent, with 3 to 6 months of experience in a similar position
and/or bachelor’s degree in science (Microbiology, Biology, or Biochemistry) - Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Control within the pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian Good Manufacturing Practices (Health Canada) and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate in a pharmaceutical environment
- Aptitude for coaching and training
- Strong technical documentation and record-keeping skills
- Good communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
- Bilingual (French and English)
