Packaging Engineer

As a subject matter expert in packaging, the packaging engineer is responsible to define the packaging requirements for introduction of new products or technologies, including the choice of equipment, tooling, processes and/or design of components.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as packaging subject matter expert, providing technical support to project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Set up serialization connectors for new clients/products and execute related protocols.
  • Maintain component dimension database for packaged products.
  • Analyze and improve packaging processes, including equipment layout and procedures.
  • Assist in the design, procurement, installation, and testing of new packaging tooling and equipment.
  • Lead or support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and investigations for packaging issues.
  • Review, prepare, and approve packaging documentation, including Master Batch Records, equipment qualification, engineering, and process validation protocols and reports.
  • Execute engineering and validation protocols for packaging.
  • Create, review, or approve SOPs and line setup instructions for new products.
  • Provide technical training to operators on new packaging processes or equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.

Skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a Canadian University.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a pharmaceutical cGMP environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical writing skills.
  • Manages tasks to deliver results on time and on budget.
  • Familiar with safety concepts and methodology.
  • Proficient in Commissioning and Validation strategies and execution.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others.
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to production schedules.
